PROPER CARE
Chain and chain slings require careful storage and regular maintenance.
1. Store chain and chain slings on an “A” frame in a clean, dry place.
2. Avoid exposure to corrosive mediums. Oil chain before prolonged storage.
3. Never alter the thermal treatment of chain or chain sling components by heating.
4. Do not plate or change surface finish of chain or components. Contact chain supplier for special requirements.
PROPER USE
To protect both operators and materials, observe these precautions when using chain slings.
1. Before use, inspect chain and attachments following the inspection instructions.
2. Do not exceed working load limit as indicated on the chain or chain sling identification tag. Any of the following factors can reduce the strength of the chain or sling and cause failure:
Rapid load application can produce dangerous overloading.
Variation in the angle of the load to the sling. As the angle decreases, the working load of the sling will increase.
Twisting, knotting or kinking subjects links to unusual loading, decreasing the working load of the sling.
Using slings for purposes other than those for which slings are intended can reduce the working load of the sling.
3. Free chain of all twists, knots and kinks.
4. Center load in hook(s). Hook latches must not support load.
5. Avoid sudden jerks when lifting and lowering.
6. Balance all loads to avoid tipping.
7. Use pads around sharp corners.
8. Do not drop load on chains.
9. Match the size and working load limit of attachments such as hooks and rings to the size and working load limit of the chain.
10. Use only alloy chain and attachments for overhead lifting.
MATTERS NEEDING ATTENTION
1. Before using the chain sling, it is necessary to see the working load and scope of application on the label clearly. Overloading is strictly prohibited. The chain sling can only be used after visual inspection.
2. In normal use, the hoisting angle is the key to affect the load, and the maximum angle of the shadow part in the figure shall not exceed 120 degrees, otherwise it will cause partial overload of the chain sling.
3. It is forbidden to use irregular connection between chains. It is forbidden to hang the load-bearing chain rigging directly on the components of the crane hook or wind it on the hook.
4. When the chain sling surrounds the object to be lifted, the edges and corners shall be padded to prevent the ring chain and the object to be lifted from being damaged.
5. The normal operating temperature range of the chain is – 40 ℃ – 200 ℃. It is forbidden to twist, twist, knot between the links, and the adjacent links should be flexible.
6. When lifting objects, the lifting, lowering and stopping shall be balanced slowly to avoid impact load, and the heavy objects shall not be suspended on the chain for a long time.
7. When there is no suitable hook, lug, eyebolt and other connecting parts for the sling, the single leg and multi leg chain sling can adopt the binding method.
8. The chain sling shall be handled with care, and it is strictly forbidden to fall, throw, touch and drag on the ground, so as to avoid deformation, surface and internal damage of the sling.
9. The storage place of chain sling shall be ventilated, dry and free from corrosive gas.
10. Do not attempt to force the chain sling out of the load or allow the load to roll on the chain.
